THE VILLAGE OF MOUGINS

THE VILLAGE OF MOUGINS

The medieval village of Mougins is undoubtedly one of the most popular addresses for clients looking for properties for sale in the South of France and you only need to take a quick look at this hilltop village to understand why.
Built more than 1000 years ago at 260 meters above sea level and about 15 minutes by car from the coast, Mougins has become one of the precious jewels of the Côte d'Azur, to which numerous visitors come each year.

Many come to soak up the wonderful atmosphere in this village where the cobbled alleys seem to curl like a snail's shell. The village also offers superb views of the Bay of Cannes, the Lérins Islands, Grasse, or even the “Pre-Alps”.
Others come to enjoy first class golf on one of the several golf courses around the village (Golf de Cannes-Mougins or Royal Mougins Golf).

Mougins has many strings to its bow including a number of very good restaurants, such as the Amandier de Mougins at the entrance to the old village. Mougins also has some of the most prestigious art museums on the French Riviera and there are some 20 art galleries in the village today.

Over the years, the picturesque village has cultivated a unique relationship with artists such as Picasso, filmmaker Cocteau, designer Christian Dior, and singer Edith Piaf, all seduced by the charm of its narrow streets and its ancient architecture. Picasso discovered Mougins in 1935, with photographer Man Ray. And in 1961, at the age of 80, Picasso and his wife Jacqueline moved into the house where he spent his last years, a secluded property nestled in the hills of Mougins.
