The Royal Mougins golf club

The Royal Mougins golf course, created in 1993, is situated on the outskirts of Mougins, an historic village just behind Cannes on the French Riviera. It occupies the secluded “Vallon de L’Oeuf”, a quiet landscape typical of Provence, dominated by olive trees on ancient stonewall terraces and surrounded by substantial forest It is a very attractive course set in a natural green environment and it’s sometimes hard to believe that you are actually on the Côte d’Azur.

It is an 18-hole regulation golf course, par 71 with a length of 6,004 m, designed by the world-renowned architect Robert von Hagge.

Required handicap is 28 for men and 32 for women. From a sporting point of view, the very well maintained Royal Mougins Golf Course offers golfing possibilities of the highest international level and is a challenge both for the amateur golfer but also professional players, while remaining a joy for the eye. Von Hagge has used the rolling hills as well as the flatter forested valley bottom to create a large variety of challenging golfing situations. Eight ponds are linked by streams and waterfalls and provide sometimes-daunting water hazards, but a mid-way house welcomes you at the 7th tee for a break in a natural and relaxing atmosphere.

To facilitate the golf course for club players, the architect has been consciously providing a wide variety of tee offs and spacious landing areas. For some the course possesses a slight sense of disconnectedness, with a road and some real estate, as well as a light railway, splitting the course into various sections. In spite of this however, all agree on the substantial merits of the Royal Mougins Golf Club; a fact recognised officially since January 1999 when it became part of the very exclusive association: “Finest Golf Clubs of the World”.

The course is completed by a 4*hotel, restaurant and spa facility of a very high standard. There are 3 separate property developments associated with the golf course.

The original program, “the Village” is to the north by the clubhouse and consists of apartments and small houses. The second is “la Bergerie” which occupies the southwest corner with houses and finally “les Bastides du Golf” to the southeast where there are houses and apartments. The last two developments have their own private gateways off the road that crosses the Royal Mougins course.
